About Us

I landed on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in late 2004 thanks to a military assignment with the U.S. Air Force. Originally from Philadelphia, I was always on the hunt for a true Philly Cheese Steak—my hometown favorite—but I was constantly left disappointed. So before retiring from the military, I opened a small Philly Cheese Steak shop, and to my surprise, it quickly became a local hit.

Over the years, I expanded into catering, which led to multiple military food service contracts and partnerships with the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Seventeen years later, I made the tough decision to close the cheesesteak shop and fully commit to catering full time.

But with business booming, I noticed my own health slipping. I was constantly on the go, skipping meals, and grabbing whatever fast food I could find—just like many of the people I now serve. Rising food costs and lack of time left me frustrated, so I started meal prepping to get back on track. That simple change sparked a new idea: if I needed this, others probably did too. And with that, Tony Nelson Meal Solutions was born.
